Ingredients & substitution notes
- Mangoes: You’ll need ripe, fresh mangoes that have been peeled and cubed. You can also use frozen mangoes, mango pulp, or juice if fresh mangoes are unavailable.
- Maple syrup: To sweeten the mocktail. Feel free to use agave syrup or regular sugar instead.
- Fresh lime juice: The acidity from fresh limes balances the sweetness of the mango and maple syrup.
- Mint leaves: Mint leaves add a herbal flavor to the mocktail.
- Brown sugar: It adds a caramel-like flavor and a hint of molasses. The added sugars are a luxury but taste incredible.
- Sparkling water: Adds an effervescence to the mocktail, making it more refreshing and enjoyable. You can also use soda water or club soda if you prefer a stronger carbonation. Italian soda is really high quality.

Top tips
- Use ripe mangoes: Fresh, ripe produce is best – you want a rich mango nectar in your mojito.
- Use fresh ingredients: For the best flavor, use fresh ingredients such as freshly squeezed lime juice and fresh mint leaves.
- Muddle gently: When adding mint leaves to the mocktail, gently muddle them to release their essential oils. Be careful not to over-muddle and turn the leaves bitter.
- Adjust sweetness and acidity: Taste the mocktail as you make it, and adjust the sweetness and acidity to your liking. You can add more maple syrup or lime juice to balance the flavors.
- Chill your individual glasses: To keep the mocktail cold and refreshing.
- Be creative with garnishes: Add some extra flair to your mocktail by adding creative garnishes such as a slice of fresh mango, a mint sprig, a wedge of lime, or lemon slices.
- Serve it with style: Serve your mango cocktail recipe in a large cut-glass pitcher full, surrounded with beautiful glassware.
Variations
- Sweetness: Adjust the sweetness of the mocktail by adding more or less maple syrup or brown sugar.
- Turn it into a cocktail: For a boozy version, add a shot of white rum to the mango mocktail.
- More flavors: You can add additional flavors to the mocktail by incorporating other fresh fruit like pineapple or passionfruit. You can also experiment with different herbs such as basil or cilantro. Some fresh ginger will give the recipe some zing!
- Other flavored sodas: Instead of club soda, you can use flavored sodas such as ginger beer or tonic water to add an extra layer of flavor to the mocktail.
- Switch the water for coconut water
Storage
Fresh mango juice: If you have leftover fresh mango juice, you can store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
Do not dilute with soda: It is not recommended to dilute the fresh mango juice with soda or sparkling water until you are ready to serve your virgin mango mojito. The carbonation in the soda can cause the mixture to become flat and lose its refreshing taste.
