Just like our yogurt-free Mango Smoothie, this frozen mango smoothie is vegan, gluten-free and consists of only 3 ingredients.
It tastes especially good during summertime but can easily be enjoyed all year round because it uses frozen mango.

Why Use Frozen Mangos?
We love frozen fruit smoothies for several reasons.
- All year round: It means that we can enjoy fruit smoothies with fruits that are not necessarily in season.
- Easy to Store: Frozen fruit is super easy to store and has a much longer shelf life than fresh fruit. We usually keep a couple of packs of frozen fruits such as frozen berries in the freezer.
- Texture: Adding frozen ingredients to smoothies adds a super thick and creamy texture. Since this mango smoothie is made without a frozen banana, we'll use frozen mango chunks instead.
Ingredients & Substitution Notes
- Frozen Mango Chunks: You can either cut and freeze mango chunks yourself or, to save more time, use store-bought frozen mango. I do not recommend using fresh mango instead because this will result in an entirely different texture.
- Mango Yogurt: Adds even more mango flavors and slightly sweetens the smoothie. We used soy yogurt to keep this a vegan mango smoothie but it also works with dairy yogurt.
- Milk: We used oat milk but any other non-dairy milk such as unsweetened almond milk, soy milk or cashew milk will work. If you don't need this smoothie to be dairy-free you could also use regular cow's milk.

How to make a frozen mango smoothie without banana
For this healthy mango smoothie, you'll only need a handful of ingredients and a blender.
STEP 1 (OPTIONAL): If you don't use store-bought frozen mango chunks but prefer to freeze them yourself then start by cutting the mango in half. Then cut in a criss-cross pattern. Make sure to not cut through the skin.
Scoop out the mango flesh using a spoon and transfer it to a ziplock bag or freezer-friendly container. Freeze overnight.
STEP 2: Blend. Add all of the ingredients (frozen mango, mango yogurt, milk) into a blender and blend until smooth.
STEP 3: Adjust. Taste and adjust sweetness and texture.
Top Tip
- Ripe Mango: The sweetness of this recipe will depend on how ripe your mango is. Make sure to use a very ripe mango for best results.
Variations
- Texture: For a thicker smoothie, add more frozen mango chunks. For a thinner smoothie, gradually add more milk.
- Sweetness: This smoothie is mostly naturally sweetened with mango
- Without Yogurt: See this mango smoothie recipe for a smoothie recipe without any yogurt.
- Different Yogurt: This recipe calls for mango yogurt to enhance the natural mango flavors. You could use plain Greek yogurt, vanilla yogurt or unsweetened coconut yogurt instead but this will change the taste slightly. You might then also need to add some additional sweetener.
- Coconut Milk: For more tropical flavors you could use coconut milk instead of another non-dairy milk. I recommend using light coconut milk.
Optional Add-Ins
- Leafy Greens: Boost this smoothie's nutrition by adding a handful of spinach or kale. Or check out our Frozen Spinach Smoothie.
- Other Fruits: Feel free to play around with the flavor of this smoothie by adding your favorite fruit. We find that mango pairs really well with fresh tropical fruits such as pineapple or peach.
- Protein Powder: Turn this into a high-protein smoothie by adding a scoop of your favorite protein powder.
- Lemon Juice: Add a tablespoon of fresh lemon juice for some tangy flavors.
Equipment
- Blender: The stronger your blender, the smoother your drink will turn out. I highly recommend using a high-speed blender such as a Vitamix or Blendtec.
Storage
Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 day. Give it a good stir or shake before serving.
