How to roast frozen green beans in oven
This simple recipe requires only a couple of minutes of prep time and a 5 simple ingredients.
STEP 1: Prepare. Preheat oven to 430°F (220°C). Place frozen green beans on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Season with garlic powder, salt, pepper and olive oil.
Give the mix a good stir using your hands.
STEP 2: Bake. Spread the frozen beans in an even layer so that they touch each other as little as possible. Bake in the hot oven for 15 minutes.
Sprinkle the roasted green beans with some sea salt (optional) and serve immediately.
Top Tips
- High-Heat: otherwise, they won’t be nice and crunchy. You want to flash them for a short period at a high heat so that the water evaporates quickly and they have a good bite to them.
- Space out beans: this allows them to be cooked evenly instead of steaming up against each other, turning mushy.
- De-ice: Get rid of as much ice on the beans as possible to ensure an even cook. Too much ice will cause steam around the beans and affect how crunchy they are.
Flavor variations
- Parmesan Cheese: Roasted parmesan green beans are one of our favorite flavor variations. Sprinkle over for the last 5 min of oven time. Nutritional yeast is a perfect vegan option.
- Feta Cheese: Crumble a little over the beans just as they come out of the oven.
- Lemon: Squeeze over some lemon juice just before serving.
- Fresh Herbs: After their time in the oven, sprinkle over some fresh parsley, chive, and basil.
- Nuts: roasted almond slivers, pine nuts, or walnuts as an additional topping. These should be roasted separately on their baking tray.
- Balsamic Vinegar: drizzle a little over the beans just as they come out of the oven. This will give a lovely summery balance to the rich beans.
- Something Sweet: pair with something sweet, such as pomegranate seeds or cranberries.
Storage
- To store: These beans can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days. Let them cool completely before storing them to keep their lovely texture. The best way to eat these beans is straight out of the oven.
- To reheat: Place your oven on low heat and reheat the beans for 10 minutes or until they are warmed.
FAQ
