I love a healthy side dish that is quick and easy to whip up. This recipe for oven-Roasted Frozen Brussels Sprouts is the best way to add a tasty side dish with very little prep time.
Just like our Roasted Frozen Green Beans or Roasted Frozen Cauliflower, it’s a simple and hearty veggie dish to make and is a great addition to many a meal.

Using frozen vegetables are an easy and tasty way to add veggies to a meal!
It is also a little more economical than buying fresh ones and more convenient as you can just whip them out of your freezer section. Frozen brussels sprouts are easy to get at most grocery stores.
If you’re looking for something a little different from regular roasted vegetables or you need to be time-efficient, give this side dish a try. The whole family is going to love these mouth-watering little veggie bites.
Why you'll love this recipe
- From frozen sprouts to roasted and golden in 30-odd minutes- the perfect side dish when you're short on time.
- Packed with nutrients. Brussels sprouts are loaded with vitamin C and vitamin K, which is great for the immune system. You can read more about the health benefits of brussels sprouts here.
- A veggie side dish that pairs well with a great variety of main dishes.
Can you roast frozen brussels sprouts?
Yes, absolutely. There is no need to thaw them. They don’t taste exactly like fresh roasted brussels sprouts (not as crunchy), but they’re still really delicious and perfect when you want to save some time.
Ingredient & substitution notes
- Oil: Instead of olive oil you can also use avocado oil successfully in this recipe. Try sesame oil for a slightly different and nuttier taste.
- Garlic Powder: Try onion powder if you can’t find garlic powder. Parmesan cheese will also substitute the garlic powder nicely.

How to cook frozen brussels sprouts
STEP 1: Preheat the oven to 450°F/230°C. Add your whole frozen brussels sprouts to a large bowl and add in the other ingredients.
STEP 2: Toss them together to coat everything well.
STEP 3: Transfer them to a large baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
STEP 4: Roast the Brussels sprouts for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown in the preheated oven, stirring every 10 minutes to prevent them from burning.
Top tips
- High temperature: For best results stick to a high temperature.
- Toss evenly in the seasoning for the best flavor.
- Even layer: arrange them in a single layer to ensure they cook evenly.
Variations
After the first minutes of roasting, you could cut each of the Brussels sprouts in half. Then continue baking cut side down for some extra crunch.
More flavor ideas
- Spices: Be creative with your choice of spices. If you're into spicy food, add a pinch of chili powder, chili flakes or cracked black pepper. Italian seasoning (a mix of Italien herbs) also tastes great.
- Cheese: Sprinkle with some parmesan or cheddar during the last 10 minutes of baking. Adds some ultra delicious cheesy flavors.
- Balsamic Vinegar: a classic seasoning. Turn them into balsamic brussels sprouts by drizzlling with 1tbsp of vinegar shortly before serving.
- Maple Syrup/ Honey: Maple roasted brussels sprouts anyone? Stir in a tablespoon of maple syrup or honey during the last 10 minutes of baking. Pairs very well with the vinegar.
- Lime/ Lemon Juice: or add a sprinkle of fresh lemon juice just before serving.
Serving suggestions
- Pomegranate Seeds: Serve these brussels sprouts with pomegranate seeds sprinkled on top.
- Side Dish: They par very well with our Vegetarian Wellington or Stuffed Acorn Squash.
Storage
You could store them in an airtight container in the fridge but generally I do not recommend storing and reheating them. The texture isn’t as great anymore. The brussels sprouts can’t be frozen, either.
FAQ
No, you don’t. They are perfectly fine to roast from frozen and will be golden and toasty.
Not quite; they are softer and not as crunchy as fresh brussels sprouts.
