Ingredients

  • 1 frozen banana
  • seeds of 1 passion fruit
  • juice of 1 lime
  • ½-¾ cup passion fruit juice (unsweetened)
You can find detailed step-by step-photos above the recipe card.

Instructions

  • Cut the passion fruits in half and scoop out the pulp into a blender. Be sure to get as much as you can!
  • Add all the other ingredients to the blender and blend until smooth. Start with ½ cup of juice and work your way up from there.
  • Taste and adjust as needed. You might want to add more juice if it's too thick or more frozen banana if it's too thin. Adjust the sweetness as needed by adding dates or a tablespoon of honey or maple syrup (but the smoothie is quite sweet actually).

Notes

  • Makes between 1- 1 ¼ cup smoothie
  • Add other fruits such pineapple, mango, papaya or dragon fruit work well if you want to add more flavors.
  • Without Banana: Instead of a frozen banana you could use frozen mango or frozen pineapple.
  • Milk instead of juice: try almond milk, soy milk, rice, oat, or coconut milk if you prefer a creamier texture.
  • Use ripe fruit: use ripe banana and passion fruit for the best flavor! Ripe passion fruit has wrinkly skin, so keep a lookout.
Blend well: To ensure a silky and well-blended smoothie, blend the ingredients for an adequate amount of time.
  • Sieve the passion fruit: Some people don't enjoy the crunch of passion fruit seeds in their smoothies. If that’s you, sieve the passion fruit pulp to remove the seeds before adding it to the blender.
