Notes

  • Don't skip the water: Matcha doesn't dissolve as well in milk so we always recommend whisking together the matcha powder with a small amount of water first (except when you're using a blender).
  • Don't use boiling water: Matcha is usually dissolved in warm to hot (160 - 175°F / 70-80°C) not boiling water. If your water is too hot, you could end up with a bitter-tasting matcha. Lower the temperature for a softer, mellower-flavored latte.
  • Frothed Oat Milk: I love adding some additional frothed oat milk on top.
  • Use a blender: If don't have a whisk, you could add the matcha powder, oat milk and maple syrup to a blender and blend until frothy. This will also fully dissolve the matcha powder.
  • Use a milk frother: If you have an electric milk frother, you could use it instead of the whisk. Add the matcha powder and water to your milk frother and froth until fully dissolved. Pour it into a serving glass and add the oat milk.
  • Adjust matcha: We used 1 teaspoon of matcha powder, for less intense matcha flavors, use only ½ a tsp.
