Equipment

  • 1 blender

Ingredients

Smoothie

  • 1 frozen banana
  • 3 pitted Medjool dates *see notes
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon tahini
  • 1 cup milk of choice

Cashew-Coconut Cream (Optional)

  • ¾ cup cashews
  • ½ cup coconut cream
  • 3 Medjool dates
You can find detailed step-by step-photos above the recipe card.

Instructions

Shake

  • Place all of the ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth.
  • Gradually add more milk/water if you prefer it a little thinner. Add more dates for a sweeter shake or more tahini for more nutty flavors.

Cashew-Coconut Cream (Optional)

  • If you want to include the cashew-coconut cream put a can of coconut milk in your fridge overnight.
  • The next day, soak the cashews in very hot water.
  • Then put soaked cashews, coconut cream (only the solid part of the coconut milk that should be on top now) and Medjool dates into a food processor and blend until smooth.
  • Add the cashew-coconut cream on top of your shake and enjoy!

Notes

  • Medjool Dates: This recipe calls for Medjool dates because of it's caramel-like flavour and texture. If you can't find any, simply use "normal" small ones but you might need to use about double the amount.
  • Smooth tahini: Make sure your tahini is well-stirred before adding it to a blender.
  • Strong blender: For a smooth smoothie, I recommend using a strong blender.
  • Frozen banana: If our blender has a hard time blending the frozen bananas, slice them into smaller pieces before freezing.
  • Nutritional values calculated without cashew-cream topping.
