Add pearl barley to a blender jug or grinder.

Step 1

Pulse until you end up with a texture that resembles very coarse flour.

Step 2

Add all the barley, water, milk and maple syrup to a medium saucepan and bring them to a gentle simmer.

Step 3

Let simmer for around 25 minutes. Stir constantly to break up any lumps.

Step 4

Adjust texture and sweetness and serve with toppings of choice!
